WHAT: The Tenth Meeting of the States Parties to the Mine Ban Treaty

WHEN: 29 November - 3 December 2010

WHERE: Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland

WHO:

  • Governments, United Nations agencies, the International Committee of the Red Cross and international organizations
  • Mine action experts, landmine survivors and campaigners gathered under the banner of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines

ABOUT: The meeting will review progress made since the landmark 2009 Cartagena Summit on a Mine-Free World, with particular emphasis on the clearance of mined areas, mine victim assistance, destruction of stockpiled mines, and international cooperation and assistance.

Micheline Calmy-Rey, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland; Edmond Haxhinasto, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania; and Jakob Kellenberger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, will address the opening of the meeting on 29 November. Gazmend Turdiu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania, is the President-Designate of the Meeting.
