Twice a year governments, the ICBL, and international organizations gather for the Meeting of States Parties and the Intersessional Standing Committee Meetings. During these meetings, progress in universalizing and implementing the Mine Ban Treaty is assessed, and challenges addressed. Every five years, a Review Conference is held.
In order to ensure the systematic and effective implementation of the Mine Ban Treaty, four Committees (the Committee on Article 5 Implementation, the Committee on Cooperative Compliance, the Committee on Victim Assistance, and the Committee on Enhancing Cooperation and Assistance) meet once a year in Geneva, Switzerland. The meetings are open to governments (States Parties and states not party), relevant international organizations and non-governmental organizations. The ICBL actively participates in those meetings, delivers expert statements, makes the voice of mine survivors heard, organizes side events and feeds information to the media.
